Building a Photo Book

Choosing a Photo Book Type

From the Photo Book main page, start by selecting the theme of the book you would like to build. You can choose from Custom Cover, Parks and Resorts, or Adventures By Disney. If you choose Parks and Resorts, you can then select either the Personal (which can contain uploaded photos only) or Professional (which can contain uploaded photos, Disney's PhotoPass photos, or photos from Disney's Photo Gallery):

If you select the Personal Photo Book, you will be taken immediately into the Photo Book editor. If you select the Professional Photo Book, you will be prompted to enter the customized title which will appear in foil stamping on the lower right corner of your finished book cover. From that point, you will be taken to the editor. If you select the Custom Cover book, you will be taken to the Photo Book editor where you can select your photo for the cover.  You can also choose to add personalized text to your Photo Book cover.  Adding text to the cover is optional. Any text added to the Custom Cover Book will also be included on the spine.

Note: You cannot change your Photo Book type once you have started building it. If you would like to build a Photo Book of a different type once you've started one already, you will need to create a new Photo Book project.

Selecting Page Background & Layout

While you are building your Photo Book, it will be displayed to you in 2-page spreads. The very first page of the book that you will see in the editor is the front inside cover. Therefore, you will be unable to select a page background or layout for this page.

Note: Each page in the Photo Book editor has its own set of menus for selecting a background, page layout, and the number of photos you would like to appear on that page. The menu options for each page are displayed directly above the corresponding pages.

To start building a page, select the background first by using the "Select Background" menu. Your background will appear on the page and then you can select the page layout and number of photos you wish to see on that page.

You can change the background, layout, or number of photos you've chosen for a page at any time by selecting a different one from the drop-down menus that appear directly above the page you wish to edit.

Adding, Removing or Changing a Photo

After you have chosen a theme and a design for your Photo Book, you can begin adding a photo from the albums which appear on the right side of the screen. You can use Disney's PhotoPass Photos, or photos from My Uploaded Photos, or Disney's Photo Gallery depending on which book type you have chosen.

To add a photo to your Photo Book design, simply click on the photo you wish to add and hold the mouse button down to drag your selected photo into the Photo Book editor. When your mouse is positioned over the box that reads "Drag Photo Here," release the mouse button and the photo will appear within your selected book design.

You can feel free to try different photos by clicking and dragging them directly into the slots in which you want them to appear in the Photo Book editor. If you have already dragged a photo into a slot and you wish to replace it, drop a new photo into the same slot and it will automatically replace the old one.

To remove a photo from the Photo Book editor, simply click the photo and drag it back into your photo album on the right.

Adding or Removing a Page

To add or remove a specific page while building your Photo Book, select the buttons which appear just beneath each page:

Disney's Photo Book comes standard with 20 pages (10 double-sided sheets). Your Disney's Photo Book can contain up to 60 pages. If you reach the 20th page in your book and you would like to add more pages, select the "Add a Page" button.

Note: The first time you add a page, you will receive a message informing you of the price for additional pages. This message only appears the first time you select the "Add a Page" button. However, each time you add a page beyond the 20th page of your book, there will be a charge added to the total cost of your Photo Book. You will see the final cost when you add your completed Photo Book to your cart and proceed to checkout. For more information on additional page pricing, please visit Pricing Information.

Positioning a Photo

While building your book, you can position any photo within a selected layout by clicking the photo you wish to position. When your mouse is over a photo, you will see a "Click to Position Photo" bubble appear. After you click on the photo, the following tools will appear:

Adding & Editing Text

Depending on the page layout you select, you will have the option to add text captions to a page in your Photo Book. To add text to your Photo Book design, click the "Edit Text" box and a new box will appear in which you can type the caption that you wish to use for a particular photo.

To edit text that you have already entered, position your mouse over the text until you see the "Click to Edit Text" option appear. You will then be able to make any changes to your text.

Note: We recommend typing your Photo Book captions into a word processing program that allows you to check your spelling, as there is no spell check included with the Photo Book editor.

Previewing & Purchasing Your Photo Book

When you're finished building your Photo Book, select "Preview" to see how your finished book will look. Use the left and right arrows to navigate through the pages of your book. You can also jump to a specific page / spread in your book by using the drop-down "Go To" menu that appears beneath your book preview.

If you want to make changes to your Photo Book after clicking the preview button, simply select "Return to Editor" and you will be able to make any changes you'd like before finalizing your book layout.

Once you've made your last changes and are ready to place an order, select "Add to Cart." You will receive a confirmation message that your Photo Book was added to the cart. Select "Yes" to proceed to checkout, or "No" to stay within the editor.

Note: After you've added a project to your shopping cart, any changes that you save to that project will also be saved to the item in your cart. After an item is purchased, any additional edits you make to that project will not be reflected in the finished product you receive.
